Washington D.C.

The Children’s Health Project of D.C. (CHPDC) serves communities in the Anacostia region of Southeastern D.C. In the particular region of D.C. (Wards 5, 6, 7 and 8) served by the CHPDC, children and youth experience a high degree of socioeconomic and environmental risk factors that often give rise to developmental delays and long-term health problems. These factors include high incidences of infant mortality, infant morbidity, teenage pregnancy, low birth weights, prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol and child abuse and neglect.
