In addition to providing urgently needed medical and mental health assistance to communities in crisis following disasters, The Children’s Health Fund documents these needs and the efficacy of care provided. Working with the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University/Mailman School of Public Health, CHF formally assesses the nature and extent of post-disaster community needs. These studies are integral to CHF’s advocacy and policy agenda: To improve conditions for children and families affected by disaster and contribute to the development of more effective public policy.
