Annual Meetings

At the Annual Meeting of The Council in Washington D.C., executives from member companies have the opportunity to engage prominent government figures in high-level policy discussions concerning children’s health. Past participants have included Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton, Richard Durbin, Tim Hutchinson, Edward M. Kennedy, John D. Rockefeller, IV, and Arlen Specter, as well as Secretary Tom Ridge and General (Ret.) Colin L. Powell.

This forum also provides an opportunity for CHF senior staff to highlight activities of The Fund during the past year and keep members informed of new programs and initiatives reflecting the CHF mission.

The 2007 Annual Meeting focused on opportunities and challenges facing the future of health care for America’s children. Leo Jardot, Vice President of Government Relations at Wyeth, and William Shore, Director of U.S. Community Partnerships at GlaxoSmithKline, addressed the group, followed by remarks from Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) at the post-reception.

The 2006 meeting focused on the nation’s priorities for children and health care particularly CHF’s efforts in responding to the devastation in the Gulf Coast region post Hurricane Katrina. Speakers included Senator David Vitter (R-LA), Roy Ramthun, Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, Damian Braga, President, sanofi pasteur, and Charles F. Rouse III, Head of U.S. Communications, sanofi-aventis U.S.

At the 2005 meeting, speakers and members presented their views on Medicaid reform and its impact on children. Speakers included Doug Badger, Senior Health policy Advisor, Special Assistant to the President and Senator Michael Crapo (R-ID).
