PHOENIX Children's Health Project

The Phoenix Children’s Health Project (PCHP), also called the Crews’n Healthmobile, is based out of Phoenix Children’s Hospital, one of the largest free-standing children’s hospitals in the country.

Phoenix ProgramTogether with community partners, PCHP provides comprehensive services to youth who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness across the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Currently, thousands of children and young adults live on the streets of Phoenix, many in desperate need of medical treatment and behavioral health services. Most face substantially increased risks of illness, injury, violence, and behavioral health concerns–such as depression, anxiety, and increased risk of suicide–due to the hardships they endure.

Most patients lack health insurance and have significant psychosocial barriers to accessing essential health care services. Conditions PCHP frequently treat include acute illnesses, such as respiratory and ear infections, skin and eye disorders, asthma, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, trauma, and mental health conditions.

By bringing comprehensive primary care directly to unstably housed youth, the Phoenix Children’s Health Project provides an accessible, enhanced medical home to an extremely vulnerable population.
